I believe the Ruger Mark III manual say's for the Hunter model that the sight picture is to be dead center with the front sight setting in the bottom of the V. Of course like North Country Girl said, after that you adjust them to you're liking. N.

I have a Millett red dot on the Hunter, and just use the iron sights with the 22/45 although I did move the optic front sight from the Hunter to the 22/45. Both are fun to shoot, but the 22/45 points a little easier since it has the shorter 4.5 inch barrel.

The pros involved with the Hunter (all Mark III versions) is, for some, where the magazine latch/release is located. Some of the other added features, like the magazine disconnect and the LCI (loaded chamber indicator) can easily be defeated if you don't want the hassle of dealing with those particulars.
