For that kind of money you should be able to buy an 8.5 S rearend with limited slip and maybe disc .The 7.5 / 7.6 will not hold up under prolong pounding from a strong V8. A perfectly tuned, 4 bolt main converted half filled '69 351W block that has high quality lightweight parts in the rotating assembly could probably take somewhere in the neighbohood of 700 n/a hp.
